The Shanghai Public Health Center immediately reported to the Shanghai Municipal Health Commission and the National Health Commission that the new virus is homologous to SARS and should be transmitted through the respiratory tract. It recommended that appropriate disease control and prevention measures be taken in public. [23]

A respiratory surgeon at Xinhua Hospital in Hubei Province developed a lung abnormality. The hospital had an internal meeting that emphasized the situation could not be leaked out, especially not to the media. [25]

This is two weeks after Xi Jinping held the CCP Standing Committee meeting on the pandemic. Between Jan 8 to Jan 20, there were no reports of coronavirus or pneumonia on People’s Daily.

Ghebreyesus, and during the meeting Xi claimed that he himself responded to the epidemic, and “personally” directed and deployed the anti-pandemic campaign. Li Keqiang, who actually went to Wuhan as national leader battling the virus, were no longer mentioned in the media. [166]
China’s state controlled media, Dongying News, praised a female cyber police for deleting social media posts 20 hours a day during this outbreak. This news was deleted after netizens take this as evidence of China’s internet censorship. [394]

The Speech:
In the past two weeks, the number of cases of COVID-19 outside China has increased 13-fold, and the number of affected countries has tripled.
There are now more than 118,000 cases in 114 countries, and 4,291 people have lost their lives.
Thousands more are fighting for their lives in hospitals.
In the days and weeks ahead, we expect to see the number of cases, the number of deaths, and the number of affected countries climb even higher.

"Dr. Maria Van Kerkhove Exposes World Health Organization Carries China's Narrative"
A World Health Organization official said Monday that she suspected human-to-human transmission of the novel coronavirus “right from the start,” beginning on Dec. 31, 2019.But WHO officials echoed Chinese authorities and denied any suggestion of human-to-human transmission for weeks after Dec. 31. Chinese doctors, meanwhile, were reported to have known for weeks prior that the virus could be transmitted between humans.
“Right from the start, from the first notification we received on the 31st of December, given that this was a cluster of pneumonia — I’m a MERS specialist, so my background is in coronaviruses and influenza — so immediately thought, given that this is a respiratory pathogen, that of course there may be human-to-human transmission,” Dr. Maria Van Kerkhove said in a press briefing Monday.
Despite Van Kerkhove’s apparent suspicions, the WHO repeated Chinese authorities’ downplaying the possibility that the virus could spread between people.

"Taiwan Release Contents Of December E-Mail"
The World Health Organization is under fire after Taiwan released the contents of a December email inquiring about the person -to-person spread of COVID-19, which it says was ignored by the organization and further denied to provide adequate information about how to fight the virus.Taiwan is accusing the WHO of downplaying the severity and spread of the coronavirus in an attempt to pander to China, even after Taiwan sounded the alarm about at least seven cases of atypical pneumonia that they were aware of in Wuhan, where the virus originated.
When asked about the cases by the media, Taiwan said China's health authorities said, "The cases were believed not SARS; however samples are still under examination, and cases have been isolated for treatment," according to the contents of an email sent by Taiwan's Center for Disease Control and Prevention to the WHO on Dec. 31.
